Collaborative Opportunities

The State Theatre is uniquely positioned to serve as both a venue for collaborative events with other organizations, and as a catalyst and center for community activities.  Its spacious auditorium can accommodate approximately 550 seated guests, something no current private facility in the region can provide.  However, The State Theatre will be more than an attractive and flexible space; it will be a magnet for inter-organizational collaboration, including such organizations as:

  • The National Audio-Visual Conservation CenterThe Library of Congress NAVCC is located on Mt. Pony just outside the Town of Culpeper.  The theatre’s projected completion will complement the public programming of the world’s largest moving image and recorded sound conservation center.

Discussions with the Library of Congress began in 2004 regarding joint ventures. These collaborations will include regular motion picture screenings, symposia, film festivals, and educational outreach programs tied to curricula of local schools, colleges, and universities. The State Theatre can also augment screening and presentation space for the NAVCC's anticipated schedule of large film and sound related programs and events.

  • The Daniel Technology Center:  By partnering with the Daniel Technology Center, the Theatre, with its flexible stage area and state-of-the-art sound and audio-visual equipment, will provide expanded space for lectures and educational presentations for students and members of the public.

  • The Museum of Culpeper History: The Museum wil be able to use the facility for gatherings such as historical lectures, symposia, slide shows, and films held in conjunction with other Museum events focused on the rich history of the region.

  • The Windmore Foundation for the Arts : The Windmore Foundation promotes the arts in the Piedmont area and is a patron of theater, art education, dance, literature, music, and visual arts. The central downtown location of The State Theatre will afford opportunities for larger and more comprehensive programs for the Windmore Foundation.

  • Mixed Use OpportunitiesThe Theatre's copious stage space and technically sophisticated audio, lighting, and projection systems will provide flexible space for mixed-use and cross-organizational events. Such events will include governmental meetings, community concerts, programs for senior citizens and learners of all ages, travel and tourism programs, civic meetings, and community holiday celebrations and concerts.
